Poon Hill Trek-5 days package starts from the scenic and beautiful city of Pokhara. It is located on the laps of high and massive Annapurna range of mountains with ever-present Machhapuchare Himal, the famous ‘Fish Tail’ peak.

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking 5 days itinerary is an ideal and perfect walk around high green hills. It is covered with an enchanting forest of tall rhododendron, magnolia, blue pine, and fir trees, which makes the area exotic and fascinating throughout the walks.

Poon Hill Trek is a beautiful short adventure, where we can enjoy the spectacular panorama of Mid-Western Himalayan peaks. That includes world 7th high Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), with Tukuche and Nilgiri’s mountains include world tallest Mt. Annapurna(8,091 m) with 8th high Manaslu range (8,163 m).

From Pokhara leads to the start of walks following the ancient Trans-Himalaya Salt Trade Route trail. That extends far beyond Ghorepani (our destination) towards Upper Mustang towards the border of Tibet.

You are walking past lovely farm terraces and villages with climb high to enter serene cool woodland to reach Ghorepani. Ghorepani is a delightful town located amid rhododendron and pine tree lines populated by Poon people of the Magar tribe.

At Ghorepani in the comfort of the beautiful cozy lodge, from where next early morning takes for an hour hike on Poon Hill. The highest spot of the adventure at 3,210 m offers mind-blowing sunrise over an undulating range of Himalayas views. It covers all three world highest mountains of Nepal Mid and Far West Himalaya range.

After a most exciting time with a fabulous panorama of 360° extensive mountain views with striking sunrise, the walk continues from Ghorepani. It takes an alternative U-turn visiting high areas of Tadapani and Gurung village at Ghandruk with endless views of peaks.

Finally, our Poon Hill Trek complete with a five days walk and a short drive back to Pokhara. And to end our marvelous adventure on high rolling green hills of massive Annapurna Himalaya.

Best Seasons for Poon Hill Trek-5 Days:

Can visit nearly all season of the year, but most preferred in the springtime of March to May. During this season, wild-flowers, especially rhododendron (Nepal national flower), will be in full bloom, with bright morning till afternoon, with some chances of rains sometimes.

October to early December, another best month around Autumn/Fall and the start of winter. Nearly all days are clear for views and pleasant walks, but much cold and freezing temperatures around high altitude can expect snow sometimes.

Day 01: Drive to Nayapul, start the walk to Tirkhedhunga 1,460 m- 05 hrs.

Day 02: Trek to Ghorepani 2,880 m-06 hrs. 

Day 03: Hike to Poon Hill 3,210 and trek to Tadapani 2,630 m – 05 hrs.               

Day 04: Trek to Ghandruk Village 1,940 m -04 hrs.

Poon Hill Trek-5 Days Detailed Itinerary


01
Day 01: Drive to Nayapul, start a walk to Tirkhedhunga 1,460 m- 05 hrs.

After breakfast, morning drive takes you past Pokhara city and the valley with beautiful views of Annapurna, Manaslu, and Machhapuchare the Fish Tail peaks.

Then reach at Nayapul (42 km from Pokhara) via the village of Lumle and Kande, drive 1/2 hour reach to the Nayapool. Nayapul short walk to Bhirethati, a beautiful, prosperous town, as walk follows on the main trail past Bhirethati through lovely. Waterfalls as the route continue to Ranghai and Hille village, from here a slow climb to the side of a valley to reach at Tirkhedhunga for overnight stop a place with beautiful waterfalls.

Day 02: Trek to Ghorepani 2,880 m-06 hrs.

From Tirkhedhunga morning cross over a suspension bridge, then ascend upwards, climbing on steep stone steps (about 3,300 of them!) to a large Magar village of Ulleri. The trek reaches a pleasant place of Bhanthati as walk cross dense pasturelands and continues to walk to Ghorepani.

Walk within serene rhododendron and pine forest with a gradual climb to Ghorepani for an overnight stop, located at 2,880 m. Here we view the spectacular eyewitness panorama of imposing Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), with Tukuche and Nilgiri’s peaks, includes Huinchuli Himal.
This is a charming village located amid rhododendron and pine tree lines populated by Poon people of the Magar tribe.

Day 03: Hike to Poon Hill 3,210 and trek to Tadapani 2,630 m - 05 hrs.

Early morning uphill hike to Poon Hilltop at 3, 210 m to catch stunning sunrise over an uninterrupted Himalayan range of peaks that includes Annapurna and the Dhaulagiri gleaming yellow with the morning.

The panoramic view of snow-capped mountains from Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Tukuche Peak (6,920m), Nilgiri’s (6940m), Vara Shikar / Annapurna Fang (7,847 m), Mt. Annapurna I (8,091 m), Annapurna South (7,219 m), Annapurna III (7855m), Machhapuchare Peak (6,993 m), with Annapurna IV (7,525 m), Annapurna II (7,937 m) and Lamjung Himal (6931 m) to name a few.

The view just stunning to look at with stunning sunrise over a range of Himalayan peaks, after visiting Poon Hill, descend back to Ghorepani and continue trek to Tadapani for an overnight stop.
The trek leads you uphill to the same height of Poon Hill within the serene rhododendron forest to Deurali with descending into a gorge to reach another Bhanthati village.

From here, down to a stream and with 45 or an hour climb to Tadapani, a small settlement having the exquisite lodge to stay facing views of Annapurna peaks.

Day 04: Trek to Ghandruk Village 1,940 m -04 hrs.

The morning after breakfast short walk into the cool shade of forest with a long descend to reach at Ghandruk village for lunch and an overnight stop in a beautiful lodge with grand views of Annapurna peaks, afternoon explore around Gurung village, the largest Gurung villages around Annapurna Himalaya and visit its cultural and historical small museum.

Day 05: Trek to the road head and drive to Pokhara-05 hrs.

Last day trek of this short adventure after breakfast downhill walks to low, warm farm area of just a few hours enjoyable walks, past Kimche to Syali bazaar. Then drive to Pokhara past Bhirethati and Nayapul villages and arriving back at beautiful Pokhara and transfer to your respective hotels by the lake Phewa, afternoon rest, and walk or take a boat ride at Phewa Lake.
