Mardi Himal base camp is beneath the towering South Face of Machhapuchare peak known as Fish-Tail, due to its twin summit peaks.

Mardi Himal base camp Trek 12 days itinerary leads you to far-flung corners of the Annapurna Himalaya range. This elusive trail seldom ventured by other few trekkers and being away from the main busy path of the Annapurna region. Trek Starts from beautiful Pokhara blessed with the natural beauty of mountains and lakes a short drive leads. Beyond Pokhara valley leading to a climb to scenic spots of Australian Camp and at Potana within deep green woodland facing outmost views of Annapurna range of peaks.

The trail continues heading dense woodland of tall rhododendron and pine trees. Then suddenly, tree lines drop entering at pristine surrounding — Mardi Himal base camp trekking, facing alluring views of Annapurna-Machhapuchare and Manaslu mountain range. After a beautiful dramatic moment, head back on the same trail and then route diverts to new areas on a downhill walk to catch a ride back to Pokhara. Mardi Himal Trek Route

You will start the Mardi Himal trek from Pokhara after a 6-7 hour drive or 25 flight from Kathmandu. From Pokhara, you will drive to Kanda and starts to trek Dureli via Australian camp.

Then you will be flowing lush green forest trail you will reach to Forest Camp at Kokar. From Forest Camp, you will gradually be ascending towards Low Camp. From Low Camp, you get stunning views of the Machhapuchre Mountains.

The Low Camp trekking trail leads you towards High Camp after gaining 3 hours an altitude. The next day morning you will flow the rocky and steep narrow path takes you to the base camp of the Mardi Himal trek.

There are routes to back from the High Camp to Siding. But you will take the way to Siding via Low camp. The trekking routes flowing the steep downhill through the dense green forest. However, you can walk slowly and carefully arrive at the destination comfortably. The next day you will take a jeep and drive back to the beautiful city Pokhara.

Best Seasons for Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek

Nearly all seasons of the year can trek, where March to May springtime will be the best time when wild-flowers, especially the rhododendron (Nepal national flower) in full bloom. The walk is more appealing with beautiful, bright morning till afternoon, with some chances of rains sometimes.

October to mid-December, another best month around Autumn/Fall and the beginning of wintertime, when most of the days are clear for views and walks but can be much colder and freezing as altitude gains with chances of snow sometimes.

Monsoon months from mid-June to mid-September, a wet rainy seasons were less number of trekkers venture. Some lodge in mid monsoon and mid-winter where inn can be closed sometimes due to harsh and humid climate, which makes the walking trails much harder and slippery. How difficult is the Mardi Himal Trek?

The Mardi Himal trek is a moderate level of trekking difficulty. The trekking trail gains popularity because of the immense natural beauty. The walking distance is short and easy. This trek can participate who are novice trekkers.

Most of the Mardi Himal trek trekkers rate this easy trekking trail. It is a tea house base trekking trail. Trekkers rates the Mardi Himal trek is easy because of the shorter trekking trail can walk without any difficulty. The beginner trekkers can easily climb the trekking trail, it leads you through the gradual trekking trail, no more up steep uphill. But you have to walk through the ridge of hills.

During the Mardi Himal trek, you have to walk 5-6 hours a day. But if you have a proper rest you can easily make it. Even though you will be climbing up hills, altitude will not be a problem to walk. You can easily adjust to the new environment, proper resting.

Where is Mardi Himal?

Mardi Himal is in the 5,587m altitude from the sea level, and it lies in the Annapurna conservation trek. It is located at the east of Modi across the valley from Himchuli. Mardi Himal trek is a tropical and mesmerizing trekking route in the western part of the Annapurna region of Nepal. From the base camp, you enjoy the incredible views of the Annapurna region Himalayan range. The trip offers outstanding views of glacial valleys, diverse landscape, nature, and crystal clear snowcapped mountains.

How many people will be in the group?

From a minimum of 3-4 people in the group with a maximum of 10-15 persons in the group, in some cases, we do allow booking for a single person as well, running independently at extra cost than in groups.

What will be weather like on the trek?

As per season-wise, the best time from March to May, when most of the day is bright with minimum temperatures of 0° to 20° Celsius depending upon the altitude and areas.
Where most of the morning till middays clears for views and walks, sometimes afternoon can get overcast with chances of light rains and snow. March to May will be lively with wild-flowers in full bloom, especially various species of rhododendron (national flower of Nepal) from trees to short bushes.

How are the lodge and Tea-House on Treks?

Tea-House the word used in early days when there was smaller numbers of lodges on route trekking, at present each villages has more than 10 to 20 good lodges with pleasant rooms accommodations, serving excellent food menus as per the season wise.

Some village above 2,500 m do have nice lodge, but due to freezing cold temperatures in night and morning time where they have toilets on the outside, with some inside as common bath rooms and rest rooms.

All rooms and dining with warm heating and cozy facilities to make your stay much pleasant and enjoyable.

Are there electricity and network for cell-phones?

Most of the places do have electricity on route trekking run by hydro-power after main villages, where much of electric supply are private and individual of the lodge owners with sun / solar power to activate electric just for the lodge and as well for customers to charge their computers and cell-phones.

Some places do have networks for cell phones and as well for internets like Wi-Fi above Deurali due to high peaks and hills, the networks are disturbed in deep areas like around river gorge areas.

At present nearly all people in Nepal including remote villages do have assist to cell-phones with fine network connection only in bad weather the line can be broken, otherwise it is fine in working order.

What happens if some is sick and have to break the trek?

In this situation where our guides are well equipped with knowledge for emergency and medical purpose, depending upon the seriousness of the victims if it is much critical where nearest medical attention needed, we call for immediate evacuation for Helicopter services to reach the victims to nearest medical station and hospital.

Who are Gurung people?

Gurung tribes are high hills people of Nepal Far Mid-West Himalaya spread out throughout Nepal, where most concentrated within Annapurna and Dhaulagiri area of both Hindu and Buddhist religion and origin, these hill tribes are famous as legendry Gorkha soldiers in foreign legion and army like British, India as well some as police force in Singapore and security guards in many parts of the world overseas.

Besides men-folk as famous Gorkha soldiers the hill people are mostly farmers and cattle herders as traditional profession.
