Chulu East Peak Climbing Overview

Adventure Alpine Gorkha Treks & Expedition presents a grand and glorious adventure for all interested trekkers and climbers to the top of Nepal Himalaya highest trekking peaks of Chulu East. Chulu East Peak is climbing an enjoyable destination to choose where the scenery of mountains and rolling green hills with verdant valley never ends from the start to an end of the adventure.

The walk takes you from low-warm paddy fields and terraces to cooler green hills covered with enchanting tree lines covered with rhododendron, magnolia, oaks and pines and visiting delightful lovely villages of great interest. The journey progress is reaching much cooler zone within high and scenic Manang valley enclosed by series of peaks with Annapurna range in the south, Chulus and Pisang peaks towards north.

After enjoying times in the comfort of the local lodge, where our route heads away from main villages of Manang and popular trails of Annapurna circuit to reach complete barren wilderness at Chulu East Peak base camp to spend overnights in tents till the climb is over.

Chulu East Peak rises at an altitude above 6,584 m / 21,727 ft high as Nepal’s most top trekking truly stunning peaks located within a group of adjoining West-Mid and Far East Chulus and close to Damodar Himal and towering Pisang Peak in the east.

Chulu East Peak climb for the final ascent with time for acclimatization and much preparation to tackle the mountain to reach its summit top, where the grade is PD + means ‘Per Difficult’ Systems for the climb comes from French and Swiss Alpine Climbing Classification.

The grade defines as a straight-forward climb with some technical difficulty to face in few sections where all climbers require full climbing equipment for the challenge and to submit to the top of Chulu East Peak.

After much practice climb then ready for the final bid starting early morning where our expert guide leads you all the way to the top and back with safe descend, at the top enjoy the mind-blowing panorama of surrounding close views of mountains.

You are affectionate on top of the world, where return journey leads back on the main Annapurna circuit trail to reach main Manang village and then towards high Thorang-la pass to contact Mustang district at holy Muktinath premises.

From Muktinath explore the temple complex regarded as one of holiest of all holy places in Himalaya region by both Hindu and Buddhist followers, where our treks end on reaching famous Jomsom, a headquarter town of Mustang area.

After last overnight within Jomsom and Kaligandaki River valley around Mustang where the short scenic flight takes you to land at beautiful Pokhara, a city blessed with the magnificent natural scenery of mountains and lakes.

Marvelous adventure Chulu East Peak Climb completes on this picturesque spot at Pokhara by the side of calm Phewa Lake with views of Annapurna Himalaya.

Best Seasons for Chulu East Peak Climbing and Trekking

April to May springtime will be the best time when wild-flowers especially the rhododendron (Nepal national flower) in full bloom, which the walk more enjoyable with beautiful, bright morning till afternoon, with some chances of rains sometimes.

October to November another best months around Autumn/Fall and pre-winter, when most of the days are clear for views and walks but can be much colder and freezing as altitude gains with chances of snow sometimes.

Monsoon months from mid June to mid September a wet rainy seasons where less number of trekkers venture and some lodge in mid monsoon and mid-winter lodge can be closed sometimes due to harsh and humid climate which makes the walking trails much harder and slippery, but much greener hills with lush vegetation in wet seasons, so the choice as per your holidays for Nepal and for Chulu East Peak Climb with Annapurna Circuit Trekking.

Day 03: Drive to Jagat 1,290 m via Besisar 800 m - 06 hrs.

  • Transfer to another vehicle for drive to high hill at Jagat village for overnight stop after 6-7 hrs of interesting overland journey.

Day 04: Trek to Dharapani 1,920 m - 05 hrs.
  • Walk starts after breakfast in local lodge at Jagat to reach at Dharapani village
  • Route leads through nice cool forest to reach Chamje and Tal-Besi within Manang district, possible lunch at Tal.
  • After refreshing stop at Tal continue walk to reach much cooler areas at Dharapani for overnight halt.
  • Dharapani a nice large village on the junction of Annapurna and Manaslu route

Day 05: Trek to Chame 2,670 m - 05 hrs.
  • After breakfast walk to Timang village past Bagarchap and Dhanaque villages
  • Walk of 3-4 hrs to lunch at Timang village with grand views of Manaslu-Lamjung and Annapurna peak.
  • From Timang another 2-3 hrs walk to reach at Chame, headquarter town of Manang district.

Day 06: Trek to Pisang 3, 230 m - 05 hrs.
  • Morning with hearty breakfast at Chame walk to Pisang village of 5 hrs journey
  • Walk leads into nice alpine forest of pines and rhododendron tree lines with uphill and downhill to Pisang.
  • Reaching Pisang village transfer to nice lodge, where Manang valley begins from here with views of Annapurna-Pisang and Chulu peaks.

Day 07: At Pisang rest day for acclimatization.
  • At Pisang necessary rest day for acclimatization
  • Where one take scenic and cultural short hike to upper Pisang village
  • Visit the old monastery of Pisang with grand views of Pisang peaks with Chulus and Annapurna range.

Day 08: Trek to Julu 3,900 m - 06 hrs.
  • From Pisang village, walk starts away from Annapurna circuit trail for few days,
  • Heading towards complete barren wilderness high above Nagawa village into more arid and dry terrain to reach at Jhulu small village
  • At Julu a small village with first overnight stop in tent and camping.

Day 09: Trek to Chulu Base Camp at 5,300m.
  • After Julu, trek heads into remote parts of Manang with views of Chulus and Annapurna range of mountains,
  • Climb above scenic Manang valley to reach at Chulu East base camp which is on route to Chulu Far East Peaks also,
  • Reach rocky moraines on ridges to camp for overnight a perfect spot to establish base for Chulu East Peak climb.

Day 10: Trek and climb Chulu High / Advance Camp at 5,660 m - 03 hrs.
  • Morning with right equipment and climbing gear climb towards at the very bottom of Chulu East Peak
  • Finding a suitable spot for high camp afternoon necessary preparation for next early climb to the summit of Chulu East Peak

Day 11: Climb of Chulu East 6,584 m / 21,727 ft descend to base camp.
  • Main highlight of the adventure start climb on snow slopes with steep facing some technical difficulty in some sections
  • After a hard struggle reach at the summit of Chulu East; where our expert guide make the route safe fixing ropes at necessary section on the route.
  • After a final climb reaching at the top summit feeling high of life time experience, and achievement

Day 12: Reserve day in case of bad weather condition
  • Reserve a spare and contingency day, in case of unfavorable bad weather conditions
  • If all goes well spare day to be used on the way to Thorang-la or on route to Jomsom.

Day 13: Trek to Ngawal village 3,657 m via Julu - 06 hrs.
  • From the base camp walk past Julu village to reach at another nice rural village at Ngawal for overnight stop.

Day 14: Trek to Manang Village 3,450 m - 05 hrs.
  • Morning downhill walk near Humde village, continue to Braga village visit old monastery with panorama of snow capped mountains.
  • After monastery tour an hour walk to main Manang village for overnight.

Day 15: Trek to Yak Kharka 4,110 m - 04 hrs.
  • Walk back on main Annapurna Circuit trail to reach at Yak Kharka.
  • A great walk of 5 hours with grand views of Chulu West and Gangapurna peaks
  • Reach at Yak-Kharka for overnight stop and lunch around yak grazing field with nice lodge to stay facing wonderful mountain views.

Day 16: Trek to Thorang High Camp 4,600 m - 04 hrs.
  • A short day but walking on higher altitude to Thorang High Camp of few hours
  • Start walk after nice breakfast cross a stream short climb to reach Thorang Phedi
  • From Thorang Phedi another strenuous climb up to Thorang High Camp for lunch and overnight stop in a cozy lodge
  • Afternoon relax preparation for next day long walk to Muktinath via Thorang-la pass

Day 17: Cross Thorang-La 5,416 m and to Muktinath 3,800 m - 06 hrs.
  • Walk start early morning after breakfast with winding up to top of Thorang-la pass
  • On top facing fabulous panorama of mountains and then descend to holy Muktinath after 5-6 hrs long day walks
  • Arrive at holy spot of Muktinath and transfer into a nice lodge
  • Afternoon visit Muktinath temple of great importance to Hindu and for Buddhist followers

Day 18: Drive to Jomsom 2,715 m - 02 hrs.
  • From Muktinath due to motorable road, morning board in a jeep for short drive to Jomsom.
  • At Jomsom headquarter town of Mustang district transfer into a nice lodge for overnight stop.
  • After lunch time for walk around Jomsom market home of Thakali people located at Kaligandaki River valley with an airport.

Day 19: From Jomsom Fly to Pokhara and transfer to hotel by the lake.
  • Morning by 7 a.m. transfer to Jomsom airport a short walk from the lodge
  • As time for flight board in a small aircraft (Dornier or Twin Otter plane) a flight of less than half hour.
  • Enjoy wonderful views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna during short flight
  • Land at Pokhara airport and transfer to respective hotels by the Phewa Lake
  • Enough time to enjoy walk around shops and streets by the lake (Options for drive back to Pokhara taking 5-6 hours journey past Tatopani and Beni town)

Day 20: Drive / Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
  • Morning drive on busy interesting highway to Kathmandu
  • On route lunch after 2-3 hrs journey then reach back at Kathmandu.
  • Time for leisure activities and shopping around Kathmandu
