Tsum Valley Trekking begins with a breathtaking drive to reach inner areas of Gorkha district within Mid-West of the country, where walk follows from low paddy fields area on the same trail of Manaslu trek for some days.

On reaching further colder areas of Buddhist religion domain at Lokpa village, where our trail diverts towards North-East direction to reach. The high valley of Tsum past lovely communities of Nyle to Mu Gompa on the most top spot of Tsum Valley. Explore the villages and witness the impressive culture of Tsum people adorned with ancient ritual and custom similar to Tibetans, along with fabulous views of high mountains.

After a grand and exciting time around Tsum Valley and its, attractive villages, where walk leads on the same trail towards, low, warm areas for a drive back to Kathmandu with beautiful memories and experience on Tsum Valley Trekking.

Best Seasons for Tsum Valley Trekking

March to May springtime will be the best time when wild-flowers especially rhododendron (Nepal national flower) in full bloom, the walk will be more exciting with beautiful, bright morning till afternoon, with some chances of rains sometimes.

October to early November another best months around Autumn/Fall, when most of the days are clear for views and walks but can be much colder and freezing as altitude gains with chances of snow sometimes.

Monsoon months from mid June to mid September a wet rainy seasons where less number of trekkers venture and some lodge in mid monsoon and mid-winter lodge can be closed sometimes due to harsh and humid climate which makes the walking trails much harder and slippery, but much greener hills with lush vegetation in wet seasons, so the choice as per your holidays in Nepal and for Tsum Valley Trekking.

Day 01: Arrival day in Kathmandu via various airlines and transfer to hotel.

Day 02: In Kathmandu options for sightseeing tour and trek preparation.

Day 03: Drive to Soti-Khola 730 m- 07 hrs via Arughat 570 m - 06 hrs
  • Morning after early breakfast by 7 a.m. where overland journey takes you to
    Nepal Mid West at Gorkha areas town at Arughat.
  • From Arughat drive follows Buri-Gandaki River to reach at a farm village of Soti- Khola for overnight stop after more than six hours interesting drives.

Day 04: Trek to Machha Khola 930 m - 06 hrs.
  • First day walks into steep valley around forested areas past small villages
  • Nice views of cultivated terrace of Lapbesi upper village thek descends to a wide, sandy riverbed following a trail that meanders below a steep, craggy valley side.
  • Walk leads to a climb to Machha Khola for overnight stop, a village with number of teashops and small lodge, Maccha Khola means a Fish Stream.

Day 05: Trek to Dobhan 1,070 m via Tatopani (Hot Spring) - 06 hrs.
  • Morning walk leads past interesting farm villages and cultivated fields
  • Walk upstream towards Khola-Bensi village and Tatopani, a place with natural ‘hot spring’.
  • Continue trek crossing a suspension bridge, entering patch of forest and then reaching at Doban located on the high shelf of Burigandaki River.

Day 06: Trek to Jagat 1,345 m - 05 hrs.
  • Morning walk to Lauri stream cross a bridge and climb and then descend to open valley of Yara Khola
  • Journey continues for some hours to reach at Jagat.
  • Jagat a nice moderate farm village with mix people Magar, Chettries, Brahman, Manaslu Bhotia (Tibetan looking tribes) and some Newar people a lodge owner and shopkeepers.

Day 07: Trek to Lokpa 2,240 m via Philim 1,570 m - 06 hrs.
  • From Jagat descends to a a river, climbs on terraced hillside at Saguleri, with view of Sringi Himal 7,187m.
  • Walk continues with ups and down trail as our route reach at a bridge over Buri-Gandaki.
  • After crossing a bridge reach at Philim village with rich cultivated fields and terraces.
  • With refreshing top climb into golden fields of wheat’s and barley, and past forest area towards Eklai Bhatti
  • From here walk to Lokpa, route divert toward North West to reach overnight stop at Lokpa.

Day 08: Trek to Chokan-Paro 3,031m-5 hrs.
  • Morning walk into cliff walls, continue toward east direction to reach at Chokan Paro village.
  • From here onward leaving main Manaslu route where houses and terrains completely changes of more Tibetan like.
  • After good scenic day reach Chokan Paro village an interesting place for overnight stop in a nice simple local lodge.

Day 09: Trek to Nyle 3,347m - 05 hrs.
  • From here on entering within Tsum valley, morning walks leads to high terrain of Tsum to reach at Nyle village
  • Nyle village for overnight stop within open wide valley within arid and dry country similar to Tibet landscape
  • On walk to Nyle visit Guru Milereppa meditation cave a great Buddhist saint with history of 11th century.

Day 10: Trek to Mu Gompa 3,700m/12,139 ft -04hrs.
  • Short morning walk to Mu Gompa with an old monastery of the region
  • Leads to climb within dry country facing views of surrounding high peaks then slowly walk completes reaching at Mu Gompa for overnight stop.

Day 11: At Mu-Gompa rest day to explore.
  • At Mu Gompa rest day explore traditional village with impressive ancient monastery Mu Gompa, treasures antique important idols, statue and relics.
  • Mu Gompa will the highest spot of the trek around Tsum Valley.

Day 12: Trek to Rachen-Gompa 3,240 m- 05 hrs.
  • Morning leave Mu Gompa area to next monastery of great interest at Rachen Gompa
  • Walk leads on gradual trail with short ups and downs with views of snow peaks to reach Rachen Gompa a moderate size village for overnight stop.

Day 13: Trek to Chumling 2,386 m - 05hrs.
  • Return walks leads lead back at tree lines and green vegetation for last and final overnight in Tsum Valley area at Chumling.

Day 14: Trek to Lokpa 2,240 m - 05 hrs.
  • From here retrace journey back to Lokpa to join Manaslu valley route
  • Good walk continues with grand views of mountains and dramatic landscapes all the way to Lokpa for overnight stop.

Day 15: Trek to Philim village 1,590 m - 06 hrs.
  • Morning downhill to reach main trail of Manaslu, walk further south to warm farm village at Philim
  • An interesting place for overnight stops a spread village with immense farming crops and vegetables.

Day 16: Trek to Tatopani village with Hot Spring-06 hrs.
  • Morning walk follow Burigandaki River downstream, back on same trail
  • Descend to low sub-tropical area at Tatopani a village for overnight stop with natural fresh hot-spring.
  • Here enjoy refreshing moments on natural hot-spring with time to explore around the farm villages.

Day 17: Trek to Soti Khola 730 m - 06 hrs.
  • Walk continue following river downstream encountering many farm villages and into patch of forest of oaks and Sal trees
  • Reach our last overnight stop and end of the walk at Soti-Khola village

Day 18: Drive to Kathmandu -06 hrs.
  • Morning completing wonderful adventure on Tsum Valley Trekking drive to Kathmandu on interesting highway
  • On reaching at Kathmandu transfer to respective hotels with rest of the afternoon free at leisure

Day 19: International Departure homeward bound or respective countries.
  • Depart from the hotel as per your time for international flights.
