Tibet Overland Experience-EBC

Day 01: Arrival day in Kathmandu via various airlines and transfer to hotel.

• Reaching Kathmandu received by our staff and guide
• Adventure Alpine Gorkha Treks transfer to your respective hotel
• Explore around the streets of Kathmandu and Thamel area.
• Briefing of Tibet Overland Experience with Everest base camp includes welcome dinner in authentic Nepalese restaurant with culture programs of the country.

Day 02: In Kathmandu sightseeing tour and Tibet preparation.

• Time Kathmandu preparation Tibet Overland Experience and Everest base camp
• Morning sightseeing tour around Kathmandu at places of interest visit leads to World Heritage Sites and catch Nepalese culture and as well touch of Tibetan Buddhism.

Day 03: Fly to Lhasa 3,650 m and transfer to hotel in the midst of the city.

• Transfer to Kathmandu international airport for scenic one hour more flight to land near Lhasa at Gongar airport in Tibet.
• During flight enjoy massive views of Himalayan chain of peaks with Mt. Everest
• Landing at Gongar airport after visa-passport formalities received by our Tibetan guide and drive and drive to Lhasa around Barkhor Market Square to reach your hotel.
• Afternoon free for interesting walk around Barkhor Square witness Tibetan from all parts of the country on pilgrimage to Lhasa important monasteries

Day 04-05:   In Lhasa with sightseeing tour at places of great interest.

• These two full in Lhasa enjoy tour around important places of interest its historical and religious sites, beginning with short drive west of Lhasa to a hill top with tour of old Drefung Monastery,
• In early day home of all high priest and Dalia Lamas before Potala Palace was built.
• Visit main prayer halls with monks on prayers Drefung means heap of rice with white washed buildings.
• After interesting visit drive to Shera Monastery witness young monks on exciting debate, as it deepens the knowledge of all types to reach high priesthood.
• Shera monastery located north of Lhasa an interesting tour with lunch break in local Tibetan / Chinese restaurants
• Afternoon tour of magnificent Potala Palace known as ‘Heavenly Realm’ with 1,000 rooms where visitors can tour only the main important interior of 8 to 10 rooms of great significant.
• Potala Palace stands as Landmark of Tibet situated in the hub of the city, where high and superior priests Dalai Lama lived till the last 14th Dalai Lama, at present turn into a museum.
• After a grand tour head back into busy and colorful Barkhor Market Square with time to visit Jhorkhang Temple, the oldest religious sites of Tibet.
• As the day end in Lhasa, with time for individual activities around Lhasa before dinner time on last day in Lhasa.   

Day 06: Drive to Shigatse 3,900 m via Gyantse - 06 hrs journeys.

• Morning drive outskirt of Lhasa route diverts towards south of great Tibetan plateau, on winding road towards scenic Khamba-la pass at 4,800 m high.
• From the pass with super views of Tibetan landscapes with distant snow capped peaks views and of Turquoise Yamdrok Tsho Lake below.
• Drive towards Turquoise Lake Yamdrok Tsho to reach Nagarktse for possible lunch stop in a local Tibetan restaurant,
• Journey continues over Karo-La pass at 5,050 m high with grand views of Nzonkhangsa peak and its glaciers which flows near to the road.
• Route leads to Gyantse city with tour of Pholkar monastery and beautiful Kumbum terracotta pagoda stupa.
• From here few hour drive to Tibet second largest city in Shigatse (Xigatse).
• Transfer into a nice hotel with time for short walks around the street and shops of Shigatse.

Day 07: At Shigatse tour of Tashilumpo monastery and market

• Morning visit Tasilumpo Monastery adorn with golden roof top, seats of many Panchen Lama, second head of state after Dalai Lama.
• Visit many chambers and halls with tall bronze statue of future Buddha (Matriya) at 21 meters, afternoon visit the local colorful market of great interest.

Day 08: Drive to Rongbuk Monastery 4,890 m - 06 hrs.

• Journey continues heading south east within vast Tibetan plateau and past rural villages
• Drive over 5,220 m high at Gyatchu – La pass to reach another pass of Pang-la with panorama of world’s highest mountains from Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu to Shisapangma with array of peaks.
• From here drive to our destination at Rongbuk Monastery with superb view of Mt. Everest North Face
• At Rongbuk visit main chapel of Sakyamuni Buddha with other great statue of Buddhist saints with overnight in a local lodge / guest house of simple and basic facilities.

Day 09: At Rongbuk visit Everest base camp hike or in local transport.

• Free day in Rongbuk visit Everest base camp taking few hour hikes or take a local transport horse cart-motor bike serves as taxi.
• Enjoy grand views of Mt. Everest North West Face and back at Rongbuk for overnight stop.

Please note that sometimes TCM (Tibet China Mountaineering) might not allow visitors to visit Everest base camp expect for mountaineering expeditions, it all depends upon rules and policy of respective Chinese Government which is beyond our control.

Day 10: Drive to Kyirong Border 2,890 m for last overnight in Tibet - 06 hrs.

• A long drive to reach at Kyirong a border town, as journey leads past great Tibetan dry plateau
• Drive on newly opened route of more than six hours to reach at the border town of Tibet-China and Nepal at Kyirong for last overnight stop in Tibet.

Day 11: Drive to Dhunche 1,900 m - 04 hrs journey.

• Morning bid farewell to Tibetan guides and drivers and then depart from Tibet with short drive to the border post of Nepal and Tibet / China at Rasuwa-Gadhi
• After completing visa formalities enter Nepal border at Rasuwa Gadhi, again routine with immigration then continue drive on rough dirt road Dhunche town for overnight stop.

Day 12: Drive to Kathmandu and then transfer to your hotels.

• Morning after breakfast exciting drive back to Kathmandu with views of mountains, farm fields and towns
• As drive brings you back at hustle and bustle city life of Kathmandu.

Day 13: International Departure homeward bound or respective countries.

• Depart from the hotel as per your time for international flights.
• Adventure Alpine Gorkha Treks guides and staff transfer you to Kathmandu International airport
• Farwell with grand memories of Tibet Overland Experience with Everest Base Tour as well enjoying great time in Nepal.
