Nar-Phu Semi Annapurna Circuit Trek one of the least explored region of high remote corners of Nepal Mid-West Himalaya, an exclusive Himalayan journey with Alpine Gorkha Treks. Nar-Phu a Semi Annapurna Circuit Trekking, on this adventure for some days walking on main popular trail of Annapurna within Lamjung and Manang districts and then diverting our routes towards far end of Annapurna and Chulus range of mountains to reach at ancient villages of Nar and Phu.

A fascinating area to explore around Phu and Nar villages which takes you back to medvial time era, amazing to witness its ancient traditional life as it was for past hundreds of centuries interwoven with Buddhism religion similar to Tibetan custom.  Nar-Phu and Semi Annapurna Circuit Trekking begins after an interesting overland journey to reach at Besisar within Lamjung district and then following raging Marysangdi River to reach high green hills covered with serene alpine woodland.

Along the walks enjoy grand scenery of Manaslu-Lamjung and Annapurna peaks and visiting nice hill villages of Jagat-Tal and Dharapani and then our route leaves from main Annapurna circuit trail for some days heading towards a hidden Shangrila around Nar-Phu country. At Nar-Phu where green trees drops for sheer barren landscapes within high mountains of Damodar Himal –Himlung peaks with Chulus where route leads beyond Annapurna and high above Manang valley.

Enjoying impressive moments at Phu and Nar villages and visiting its old monasteries of great interest and then crossing high Kang-la pass to reach at Manang main village on Annapurna Circuit trail. From Manang village adventure continues to cross the highest pass of the trip over Thorang-la at above 5,416 m high facing spectacular views of mountains and dramatic landscapes views and then reaching at Muktinath within Mustang area.

Muktinath regarded one of the holiest of all holy spots for Hindu and Buddhism religions, visits its interesting temple and monastery then down at Kaligandaki River valley to reach at Jomsom, headquarter town of Mustang district and hub of Thakali people.

Best Seasons for Nar-Phu Semi Annapurna Circuit Trek

March to May and September to November months, March to May a spring time and the best time with wild-flowers in full bloom, especially the rhododendron (Nepal national flower).

Walk will be more interesting with fine and clear morning till afternoon, as well chances of rains sometimes. October to November another best months around Autumn/Fall, when most of the days are clear for views and walks but can be much colder and freezing as altitude gains with chances of snow sometimes.

Frequently Asked Questions


When do I book for Nar-Phu Annapurna Trekking?

Depending upon your time and duration for the trek you can book this trip at least 2-3 weeks ahead from our departure dates for the trek, with advance payment as per the norms and rules of the company.

Make sure that you have checked your medical and physical fitness before signing the trip and as well purchasing medical and travel insurance which is very important for this kind of adventurous treks in Nepal Himalaya.

How many people will be in the group?

From minimum 3-4 person in the group with maximum of 10-15 persons in the group, in some cases we do allow booking for single person as well, running independent at extra cost than in groups.

What will be weather like on the trek?

As per the season wise, where best time is from April to May, when most of the day is clear with minimum temperatures of 0° to 20° Celsius depending upon the altitude and areas.

Where most of the morning till mid days clears for views and walks, sometimes afternoon can get overcast with chances of light rains and snow. April to May will be lively with wild-flowers in full bloom especially various species of rhododendron (national flower of Nepal) from trees to short bushes.

How are the lodge and Tea-House on Treks?

Tea-House the word used in early days when there was smaller numbers of lodges on route trekking, at present each villages has more than 10 to 20 good lodges with pleasant rooms accommodations, serving excellent food menus as per the season wise.

Nar-Phu being a new area for trekking, where lodge are simple with basic facilities as well with the nature and background of this rough and barren country, where people have to adjust in whatever the facilities provided.

Some village above 2,500 m and 3,000 m do have nice lodge, but due to freezing cold temperatures in night and morning time where they have toilets on the outside, with some inside as common bath rooms and rest rooms.

All rooms and dining with warm heating and cozy facilities to make your stay much pleasant and enjoyable.

What to expect on this journey?

Scenic views of world’s highest mountains with Dhaulagiri-Annapurna and Manaslu range include magnificent Machhapuchare Himal ‘Fish Tail’ peaks, where walk leads you around Buddhist country interwoven with old traditional life and custom similar to Tibetans.

Walk leads to visit Manang-Thakali-Magar and Gurung villages encountering many farm fields and terraces of interesting traditional life of the local villagers.

Who are Manang, Thakali, Magar and Gurung people?

The above group of tribes are high hills people of Nepal Far Mid-West Himalaya spread out throughout Nepal, where most concentrated within Annapurna and Dhaulagiri area of both Hindu and Buddhist religion and origin, these hill tribes are famous as legendry Gorkha soldiers in foreign legion and army like British, India as well some as police force in Singapore and security guards in many parts of the world overseas.

Besides men-folk as famous Gorkha soldiers the hill people are mostly farmers and cattle herders as traditional profession.
